don't ask me 2

i want to see us as we are
me with my out-of-tune guitar
you with your disheveled head
hogging my entire bed
to make new life of our debris
the vestiges of you and me
scattered in my addled brains
childhood's glorious remains
don't ask me what i mean
i won't ask you where you've been
i will watch your heart go wandering
and when it howls, i'll let it in
at least, that's what i say today
tomorrow i might move away
and leave this note upon the door
whatever did i come here for
don't ask me
