it was bluer than any blue up to that moment
so momentous
with an apostle on my knee
speaking parables to me
and a robin floating notes out on the breezes
like forgiveness

i don’t know if it’s so

thought I’d sing a little song
to anyone who came along
to the cardinals and dogs and dandelions
so pious
so I gave them what I could
hoping it was good
and they forgave my lowly voice cuz I was trying
my highest
